How to extend the lifespan of LED explosion-proof lights?

LED explosion-proof lights are a type of explosion-proof lighting. They are currently the most energy-efficient explosion-proof lamps and are widely used in places such as petrochemical industry, coal mines, power plants, and gas stations. LED explosion-proof lights have good energy-saving effects and decent brightness. Then, what affects the lifespan of LED explosion-proof lights, and how to maintain them to maximize benefits?

What affects the lifespan of LED explosion-proof lights?

  1. Chip quality: During the manufacturing process of LED chips, process issues such as contamination by other impurity ions and lattice defects can affect their lifespan.
  2. Post-process packaging: The rationality of the post-process packaging of LED lights affects their lifespan. Experienced companies have patented LED packaging technologies, with high standards for post-process packaging, thus ensuring the lifespan of their LEDs. However, some small companies mostly imitate others in LED post-process packaging. Although their products look good in appearance, their process structure and quality are poor, which seriously affects the lifespan of LEDs.
  3. Lamp power supply: The rationality of the power supply used in the lamp also affects its lifespan. Large fluctuations in power supply current or high frequency of power supply spike pulses will affect the lifespan of the LED light source. If the power supply is designed reasonably and high-quality components are selected, the lifespan of the LED explosion-proof light will be relatively longer.
  4. Lamp design: The key to a reasonable lamp design is to dissipate the heat generated when the LED is lit. The lifespan of high-quality original LEDs from experienced large companies can vary several times or even dozens of times when used in different lamps. For example, some products use small-power tubes of about 0.07 W, but due to the lack of a reasonable heat dissipation mechanism, the light decay is very fast. There are also some integrated light source lamps sold on the market (30 W, 50 W, 100 W each). The contact part between the light source of these products and the heat dissipation channel has poor heat dissipation, resulting in some products having more than 50% light decay after being lit for a few months. Therefore, when purchasing LED explosion-proof lights, you must choose those made by experienced manufacturers.Ambient temperature: Currently, the short lifespan of LED lamps is mainly due to the short lifespan of their power supplies, and the short lifespan of power supplies is attributed to the short lifespan of electrolytic capacitors. The lifespan of electrolytic capacitors must be specified under a certain operating ambient temperature, and it is generally specified as the lifespan at 105°C. The lower the ambient temperature, the longer the service life of the capacitor. Under normal circumstances, ordinary LED lamps with a nominal lifespan of about 50,000 hours are sufficient.
  5. Daily maintenance of LED explosion-proof lights
  6. A high-quality LED explosion-proof light we purchase can last for three to four years, but if we do not pay attention to its maintenance in daily use, it can only last for two years, which is equivalent to spending extra money for no reason. So, how to extend the lifespan of LED explosion-proof lights?
  7. Regularly clean the dust and debris on the lamp to ensure good heat dissipation of the LED explosion-proof light. (If not cleaned for a long time, dust will adhere to the lamp and block the heat emitted by it, resulting in poor heat dissipation.) Good heat dissipation can extend the service life of the LED lamp.
  8. Try not to let the lamp work continuously, because the temperature of the lamp will gradually rise during continuous operation, and the higher the temperature, the shorter the lifespan of the lamp.
  9. Regularly check the voltage of the circuit. If there is voltage instability, the circuit should be maintained and repaired.
  10. If the LED explosion-proof light works in an environment above 60°C for a long time, its lifespan will be reduced by about two-thirds. Therefore, the ambient temperature for using LED explosion-proof lights should not exceed 60°C as much as possible.
