How to choose the wattage of LED street lights?

For street light projects, including renovation projects of street lights on urban main roads, industrial parks, towns, viaducts, etc., how should engineering contractors, enterprises, and owners choose the wattage of street lights?

Generally speaking, when purchasing street lights from street light manufacturers, professional technical personnel will design street light renovation plans for you. The technical personnel and salesmen of our street light factory have rich experience in street light engineering applications. The following methods are for reference only:The test road is 15 meters wide, with street lights 10 meters high. The 1-meter section on the lamp arm has an elevation angle of 10 degrees, and the street lights are tested on a single side. The test area is 15m×30m. Considering that narrow roads have lower requirements for the horizontal light distribution of street lights, data for the application area of 12m×30m is also provided for reference and selection in roads of different widths. The data presented are the average values of three measurements. Light decay is calculated based on the results of the first and third measurements, with a time span of 100 days during which the lights were turned on and off normally every day.LEDs are small in size and can emit light directionally on a semi-plane. They can be approximately regarded as point light sources in luminaire design, making them very suitable for optical design using lenses or reflectors. This allows for achieving ideal light distribution and high luminaire efficiency.Luminous efficacy is calculated as luminous flux divided by input power.

Luminous flux is calculated as average illuminance multiplied by area.

Illuminance uniformity refers to the ratio of the minimum illuminance to the maximum illuminance of the measuring points in the transverse direction of the road.

In the application of street light projects, the wattage of street lights to be installed on a road should be determined in combination with the lighting effect of the street lights provided by manufacturers. For the same road, a 100W LED street light from manufacturer A can meet the lighting requirements, while a street light from manufacturer B may only need 80W or even lower wattage to meet the same requirements.
